I began this series of photographs at the tail end of 2007. My wife's grandmother lives in an old peoples home and each flat (apartment) is configured in exactly the same way, yet each is different due to the persons decor, taste and history. When these people move in they are often asked to downscale from a 3/4 bedroomed house to a 1 bed apartment and as a result they ony keep what they feel is important to them. For some it's a spoon collection for others it's shoes or a light or a painting, etc. I wanted to capture these elements in the photograph and in some small way reveal part of their lives.
