Hiya Kristen, I love nature also and this looks like some really cold nature ;-) At first I thought this was a tad underexposed but it could be the snow is a little dirty.
The the few times I've shot snow I did it in manual mode and spot metered the snow. You get the normal exposure then overexpose by 2 stops and it exposes the snow perfectly.
You have good detail in the shadows and in the highlights so you must of nailed it.
By the way I'm so glad that you have put your photo at the top. Your a very pretty lady and it's always nice to see who is behind all the fine photography.
