About
Taken at Newhaven Harbour, Edinburgh, at sun set.
Once a royal dockyard in the 1500's, the harbour eventually turned into a fishing port (most notably for oysters) and hosted a fish market which still survives today amongst a superb fish restaurant.
Newhaven played its part in the birth of photography with David Hill and Robert Anderson being amongst the first photographers to record social history through their study of the Newhaven fishwives.
This is a wonderful shot, Robin! Also the history you have given is fascinating and appreciated.
I really feel you did a great job with this image. Beautiful! One small detail (IMHO).... I feel there is too much dark sky at the top of the picture. Perhaps you are following "the rule of thirds", but rules are made to be broken. Otherwise, I really cannot "fault" this wonderous sunset seascape.
