Just a comment that this was an original 12mb RAW file that looks like I used sharpening around the tractor when it's reduced to a 400kb jpeg. No sharpening was used Not needed with a small aperture and focused at infinity
Willem, Thanks for your comments. When I started shooting this image the wagon was almost empty. This was the last hay bale he had left and the last shot I took. Getting the right angle to the sun and correct exposure was tougher than it looked. Glad you liked it. I think the posting issue is just Jpeg compression and the small file size we are allowed here. I've seen that in other photos here that have high contrast areas.
Great image, Peter! It took very skilled eyes to see this and do this right. The image looks simple at first, and becomes more interesting and complex the longer you look at it. Re post-sharpening: I've been experimenting with various methods in which the photo software I use (Corel Paint Shop Pro) can downsize pictures to within Usefilm limits, and it appears to me that with some but not all of these resizing methods the image gets sharpened automatically. Whether I find this automatic sharpening desirable depends on the picture that I'm downsizing. Your picture certainly does not look over-sharpened. You may want to experiment with the various resizing methods of your software, though, just to see what you're getting.
