yesssss and there are ssssoo many dialectssssss asssss well. Plain snailish of course being understood and learned at the snailacademy, but I personally have two favourites: The distinguished Escargothic with refined pronouncation and the very plain and rough Sluggish spoken on many coasts.

Oh! Such a pity not being able to see something through your eyes. Still I know that youŽre bound to go beserk in Italy with your camera, so it will be a treat seing your photos when(if??) you return to Oxford. Count downtime for your journey:-) Yes, I understand you. It is good to realize that it really is possible to lead a life without a modem and a camera. Still IŽm happy to "see" you again and grateful that you check out my photos, Crow. Good for you having time to learn Italian. Learning languages is important because it quickly brings you closer to other cultures. I have learned many languages, but I usually use my native tongue and English not needing the others very much. Maybe I should freshen up some of my old languageskills. IŽll start with snailish but that involves being naked in rainy weather and crawling a lot, so maybe IŽll postpone it... Good to hear about your exhibition! Also make sure to exhibit in London as I might go there around Christmastime! IŽm also preparing an exhibition in a library. Noone knows about me so I canŽt expect people to knock on my door asking if IŽm interested in exhibiting! I must get out and ask! XX

Your snailarmy! LOL! I've missed you, my friend! Unfortunately I'm not taking any photos at the moment, so our chats will be limited to your work! I've dedided to take a complete break from photography before going to Italy... I want to be really fresh when I'm there... it feels good not to be taking photos, actually. I am spending enormous amounts of time learning Italian, and I just signed up to take a GCSE exam in Italian in June next year.... when I sat my O Level exams 22 years ago I swore I would never do another one as long as I lived... funny how things change. I had a great bit of news today with regards my exhibition... the bookshop chain I work for will produce posters and flyers for it free of charge... it's great... I can really promote it without burning a hole in my pocket.

ojoj!! What an experience both being in S. F. and to roll down backwards on one of those steep hills- there some welltrained strong killersnails stopping the tyres would have come in handy.

This reminds me of the really steep hills in San Francisco... 20 years ago or so, I was there with a friend and we were edging gingerly up one such hill in our clapped-out 1980 Chevette, when the handbrake decided to play up... there was one dreadful moment where we started rolling backwards down the hill, and I was convinced we were going to end up in San Francisco bay... luckily we managed to stop.

*LOL* I wouldnŽt recommend it, Newfman J! I was feeling really ill at that time. I guess my vikingblood isnŽt suited for 36 degrees celcius:) I actually sat down on the street outside the store where I managed to buy something to drink. So there I sat beside a beggar trying to get better while a man circled around me for a while watching me. I tell myself that he probably wanted to help me if I passed out. So no photos like this anymore;-) Thanks for adding me as your photofriend! Take care Annemette

Thank you, Brigitte:-) I have never been to San Fransisco yet, but I have heard of all the hills and tramcars there as well:-) Thanks- I almost did pass out and sat down in the street besides a beggar. No wonder people looked down at me with pityful eyes*LOL*
