About Just tried to make it look like the scenes in the old good viewmaster, enhancing depth by letting the focus start at lazy and get sharp somewhere at the middleground.

Any comments would be very welcome.

Thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment, Wayne! I do find that the DoF gets enhanced by the presence of some objects out of focus in the foreground and the background, but I have the impression that the trees/plants on the foreground should cover less of the image and the roof shouldn't be cut.

Oh well, we keep on thinking even after the 1000th look at the image.

Best wishes,

Nick

The green trees out of focus at the foreground do not bother me as much as the half roof does, Mahassa, as they do give some sense of depth to the otherwise rather "flat" region of the midground of the image, though I could also imagine to reduce the area they cover. A bit less of them would be better for me too.

As always, the place can be as nice and fine as it takes, but it is the image that should do justice for that. And here it doesn't manage very well to do so.

Thanks a lot for the nice comment and the critiques,

Nick

Wonderful image Nick!
I like the composition and the DOF.
The doorway between the vegitation is especially attractive!
I think you have done a great job executing what you had set out to perform!
Well done!

a complete roof would be much better for sure, but I like the red tree having the dull mountains as the background very much and maybe I would have cropped the green trees off... such a beautiful place,
best,mahassa

Thanks a lot for the nice and detailed comment and for the suggestion, Ahmed. It may really be that I have too much of those trees in the foreground. As about the roof of the house, you're absolutely right. It should be on the photo, as it looks rather "half" without it.

Best wishes and thank you very much again!

Thanks a lot, Dave! So you find it OK to start with a quite lazy focus in the foreground and go sharper somewhere in the middleground - which makes me think about additional possibilities.

Best wishes,

Nick

What a beautiful place! The colors are so nice! Very nice shot Nick. I think I would have preferred a little less of the OOF green trees at the foreground and the complete roof on the top.
Regards, Ahmed

Nice colour contrasts here, Nick! Your dof works well here.
Dave.
