It took me a minute to get it (late at night), but this really is a perfect abstract. The focus is just right, and the patterns are wonderful. The title implies a threat just out of the frame. Very cool.

Original image and nice choice of DOF. I wonder if the cutouts in the chess piece should be aligned with the frame? Maybe this would be even stronger. But I do like the concept and the result.

A good interesting piece that cleverly uses dof to throw the background out of focus whilst still letting us know what it is. I love the way the colour in the rook compliments the pale squares on the board.
