very interesting work, combines thoughtful background and 3d-like effect into a memorable image. After my father passed away i could sense his presence through people i talk to, pictures or out of the blue ideas. Your mom is talking to you the same way.

This image didn't have a Magical feeling at the time
it was shot. Instead this was created from the mood I was in since my Mom (Valerie) passed away after
suffering from the terrible Alzheimer's disease a couple of days before this was shot.

Very intriguing effect, Paul. Lighting is great and colors are interesting. But the geometric contrast between trees in the vertical and their shadows in horizontal is fantastic. Nice work!
Btw, have you had your D200 modified to capture IR, with IR filter removed and all?
