Maryanne, thanks for posting that photo. Visiting Antietam is quite a moving experience. I will have to look through more of Gardner's photos.

Alan, I thought you might be interested in this historic photograph I came across. Alexander Gardner took 70 photographs of the battlefield starting just two days after the battle. Gardner worked for Matthew Brady, the more well-known Civil War photographer.
I also find visiting Antietam to be moving because of the enormous loss of life. I found myself most affected when I visited with my son, as so many of the soldiers would have been his age.

Hi Biljana, thanks for looking at the portfolio. This site makes the world a smaller place, which is so nice. It is a bit sad though about your comment about the landscape looking the same as Serbia in this photo as the location of this photo is a place called Antietam and it was a famous battlefield in America's Civil War in the 1800's. It is known for the fact that 22000 people died here in a single day in close combat. It has so many horrible stories surrounding it. It made me think about the all too recent conflicts in Serbia and how similar all places in the world are.
Peace!
Al
