Thanks for the info, Joe. When and if I am ready to take "the plunge" I will give a look to the Canon 100 mm f2.8 USM Macro. The Lensbaby is not a serious macro lens. The Lensbaby 3 focuses to 12 inches as I recall without augmentation and there are macro accessories for it as well. I chose the wide-angle/telephoto adaptors as a starter and will get the macro attachments if I like the lens. The thing that attracted me to Lensbaby was the swings and tilts; something I have not had since I sold my old 4x5 equipment years ago. --Jan

Although I have heard of the Lensbaby and seen a few images taken with it, I don't know too much about the capabilites of this lens. I didn't know that you can focus close to the subject with a Lensbaby. This could be interesting. I look forward hearing how it works out for you. I understand that the Canon Telephoto EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro is an excellent. I have a Sigma 105mm macro and although it is capable of a very good image if I had it to do over again I would buy the Canon. I also have a Canon MPe-65 specialized macro lens. It is the only lens capable of up to 5X magnification but it is rather difficult to use. I will be posting a shot of a wolf spider I took with this lens in a few minutes.
Be sure to show us some examples of your Lensbaby shots.

Joe -- I have never tried macro and am interested in getting in to it. I decided to start with a Lensbaby for close up and macro photos and then later graduate to a Canon macro lens if I like shooting macro. My Lensbaby arrives sometime today by UPS and I am going to start "playing" with it next weekend. --Jan

Joe - First, thanks for the comments on my photos; I truly appreciate it. I don't mind you showing me the fine deer photo, in fact I love animal pictures and love to watch deer as well as view pictures of them. Last but not least, welcome to USEFILM and I look forward to seeing more of your pictures soon. I looked over the pictures that you have uploaded to date and enjoyed them a lot. Besides the photo of Jake I especially like the Fly macro and the winter scene. --Wishing you and Jake the best, Jan

Hi Jan! I've added you to my (very short) Friends List. Don't get too excited - I believe this gives me the right to slag you off and nit-pit remorselessly!
You've got a lovely shot here that I'd have been proud to have taken.

Riny-- I think you might be right. It was either a game she was playing or her survival instincts kicked in. Since this doe has been around our neighborhood for a couple of years, more likely she was playing. Thanks for commenting. --Best to you, Jan
