A lovely picture with a nice definition dear Klaas! The soft-lighting is incredible and suits well with the title. I adore a vision which provides strange feeling and more attention on subject. The large cloudy space makes me feeling the atmosphere! This is exactly your strong part I suppose! Honesty I love it and I’ll add to my collection! Best regards: Maxime

Thanks for your reply, good to see you lived here for a year and yes, the sea can be cold, but that depends on the time you choose to jump in. LOL. I live in Zeewolde, it's very near Harderwijk were they have the Dutch dolphin shows, and about 3 quarters of an hour from Amsterdam. Zeewolde is situated in almost the exact centre off Holland. Kind regards and take care,

Good choice to lose the color version Klaas, my friend. You saved the drama in the sky that way. The subject is great too . . . the classic look of the windmill joined to the timeless look of sepia tones. Nice sharp focus and details. Perfectly composed and elegantly framed and presented. Very nice work!

Thanks Mary, and happy you agree, I was thinking the same in case of the photo being timeless. The sky was not so special in the coloured version, but with the sepia it's just good. I add the coloured version for you. Thanks again, take care,

Thanks Marlyce for your comprehensive comment. I'm glad to read that it brought back a memory from your childhood, do you still know what cooking it was? We still have a sort of cookies we call "speculaas" with the shape off windmills, and the originals from a town called "Huizen" are amazingly delicious and baked due to an old recipe by only one bakery. And I can ease our mind by saying that it isn't the angle, but the building really is leaning due to old age and the soaking ground it's build on. I wouldn't let it out because all the buildings in the picture are from 18th and 19th century. Your more than welcome about the memorything. Take care,
Klaas

Totally agree- the sepia really suits Klaas. Kind of makes it more timeless. And the frame really suits this. Great angle and sky too. Makes it so distinct.

What a pretty place. When I was a kid we had some sort of dutch cooking that was shaped like this place, this picture sure brought back the memory. Normally I don't like sepia due to the faded feeling I get, however, I like the sepia in this one as I think it works well here. Marvelous clarity in the windmill and windows. the only thing I think would improve the picture is if the building on the right was not there. The angle the picture was taken at makes this building look like it is leaning. There really is no way to crop this out due to the roof would still be in the back, so I guess this is something to live with. Really like the picture, and thank you for bringing back the childhood memory.
