Reminds me of this book called "Motel of the Mysteries" which is a very funny archaeological look back on our civilization by some future human culture. They resolve the mysteries contained in a dig of a motel.

They would probably say the same thing I did which was, "Why did these people throw hundreds of perfectly good shoes into a tree by a highway in the middle of absolutely nowhere?" Perhaps they will get confused with the fossil beds that are near the area and they will draw pictures of early mammals wearing nikes for their museums. It was good for a screech on the breaks and a chuckle though. :)
