Ahh, have to learn never to assume. Will definitely be giving it a go, but have to wait for the 'star' of the show to make an appearance through the rain... bloody Auckland weather.

yeah I am a bit boring in that respect.. the only filters I use are 1a on both my 28-210 Nikkor lenses

Nice inclusion of that up-close star. Might have used a garduated filter (rotated near 90) to calm the sky and bring out those wonderful textures in the tree better. Hmmm... Don't think that would interfere with your flare effect. Great composition.

sorry to dissappoint Rina but no filters here all straight as a die photography... If you stop down to 1/10th sec @ F13 then this is what happens.. you get starburst.. try it tomorrow for yourself ...its all about physics and the properties of light

Believe it or not, this is the first time I've seen that filter being used on something other than a night shot! :) Quite like the lens flare as well. Never understood why it's a photography no-no for some.
Yeah, a good feeling from this image.
So, you had any success finding your way around dpc yet?
