About Reflections in the Port . . . You can probably shoot for every project at the LA Port! While it fits in Night Photography . . . Reflections . . . and countless projects . . . the thought at the time and the thing I was shooting for was the magic light and these blues are real . . . not enhanced . . . the light was amazingly surreal and the project is Magic Light!

As a professional I was apalled at the tripod comment. Worse, they didn't seem to understand why!
Thanks again Shirley!

I was reading the comments, and that bit about not using a tripod is SO ridiculous! Anyway, love the blues complementing the golds in this!

Ryan:
Sorry to hear about the negative experience with the Harbor Patrol . . . I have officers very much like that working for me. They ask 10 times because by the time you answer the second question they forgot they asked the first one already!! (LoL! - Just kidding) You might have better luck in San Pedro than you did in Long Beach . . . but that's just a guess. I should probably confess that I have carried a badge for over a decade now (high-tech banking, NOT Harbor Patrol) . . . with 10 years commander's experience. Even so . . . and IN UNIFORM . . . I was approached by two officers who were concerned about me taking pictures on the train platform and . . . get this . . . told I could take pictures only if I did NOT use a tripod! (Still feel safer?).
Anyway . . . thanks for commenting on my shot here . . . I appreciate it!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Great shot, very brave. I stay completely away from the ports after being detained for 2.5 hours by Long Beach Harbor Patrol while they searched my car and asked 10 times what I was doing and what I was taking pictures of. I guess it makes me feel better to see Homeland Security hard at work.

I totally agree with your project selection, the lighting is truely magical my friend but you are also right in supposing that there are many other possibilities. The reflections in the water are beautiful and the richness of the colour tones are just gorgeous. You have found yourself a wonderful source of material Doyle. Well done to you my dear friend. My very best wishes to you as always....Ray

Thanks Klaas . . . yes, it's quite real and the slow shutter at night really pulled out the colors.

I really like the reflections in this. And again the strength of colour and light. Warm and brill!

Beautiful port shot Doyle, great colours and reflections. If this is for real as you say, it't really magic.
Take care,

Klaas

Thanks Nessa! You're right - the colors seem unreal and the light is amazing . . . perfect, as I mentioned, for reflections, night shots, magic light, blur, classic landscape (in the day) and who knows how many other potential projects! An interesting area for sure.
