About	Lukla, Nepal. I don't have the original in London with me, this is an old scan. I know his leg is out of the shot but for some reason it remains one of my favourite. Taken immediately after a climb to Mera Peak, 22,000ft up where we lost a porter and about another 500 people died over two days all around us to to avalanches. This was our first touch with civilisation again after all that...

Damn, it must have seemed like heaven to see a couple of happy little kids after such a scary adventure. It's too bad about the leg of the one boy but its still an excellent image. I like the candid nature of the image a lot.
