Hi -- thanks for your comment; I'm happy you like the shot. Actually, it's quite easy getting close to these flies as they really don't seem too frightened of people. All I do is aproach them slowly and try to keep my shadow from falling on them. Insects seem to run when they detect the shadow of something large looming over them. Once I see one of these flies I get down on the ground about three feet away and move closer until I can focus on them. Then I just take a bunch of photos. The flash doesn't seem to bother them either. Other insects are much harder to get close to; I have to work on my stalking techiques.

Super macro. The dof is wide enough to cover the whole fly (almost) the way that I like it. I'm really impressed with your exif. Thats a real slow shutter speed. Regards Ron/

nice .. i like it .. I have always wondered how do you take such pictures .. and how to get so close .. any special techniques ?
