About ... we had mice in the compost heap... I dumped these two off in a buffer strip a couple blocks from the house. The others weren't so lucky, having been subject to the cats' own version of "Catch and Release". Hopefully there are all gone now. My wife was less than pleased when Zoey (pictured here) came strolling into the living room last night to drop a small furry mammal off by the TV...

Hi Jon,
Around here the cats and hawks usually feast on the Mourning Doves. Mostly because they are dumb and slow. I think the cats just go after the songbirds for sport.

Thanks, Andre. We're really hoping that's it for the mice. Of course now we're into "Dead Bird" season...sigh... if only the cats could take out a few of the d---d crows around here instead of the cute little songbirds.

cheers,

Jon

Thanks, ALi ... the mouse (later mice) were quite terrified, leaving lots of little mouse-presents inside the jar (which I tossed out after releasing them). But I've seen how the cats treat mice that AREN'T enclosed, and I think on the whole this was more humane :-]

cheers,

Jon

Thanks, Gayle. I did burn in the highlight in the back (a window) somewhat already, but obviously it needs more work.

Cheers,

Jon

Great story telling,Jon...other than the somewhat glaring white lights in BG upper center, all other elements work very well...you could easily clone that bright area,or select the area and reduce the brightness level...the way you framed the shot is especially appealing...nice dof and clarity, especially of the glass jar...i feel for that mouse and glad to read he/she is out roaming again...they have such short lifespans even if they manage to avoid the mouth of cats!

Great Shot Jon.. It's really cool.. I love the way the cat's looking at the mouse and also the mouses pose inside the jar..( the poor thing looks scared!!). Everything is just right in this shot and it has been captured professionally with a fantastic composition and an awesome crop... very well done dear Jon..

7+++
My best regards,
aLi

This is a great little image Jon!
I love the expression on the cat's face :) Funny the way cats always want to bring presents in to the house like that. We used to have a huge male brindle that would drive us crazy with the catch of the day.
Very nice quality in this image as well. the fur is beautiful and the detail in the glass is also very good.
