I too prefer the B&W, but the big problem here is quality of light. Looks like you're shooting into the sun here. When you go for the reshoot, go at a different time of day. If this was late, go early... Luck comes into play with weather conditions, but first or last light will likely provide better results.

Dawn,
And that's what photography is all about, what one person likes the other might not. You?re the only one who really needs to like your shots but it's nice to hear others do to. I like the B&W but then again I am into to shooting with it.

I tried your idea Chris (btw, thanks for the comment). I converted it to b&w. I also increased the contrast a little. I don't think I care for it as much in black and white. I think the different colors add more to the picture and maybe help with the detail. But that's just my opinion.

Here I'll get you guys started :) I know this photo could be improved. It was one of the first I did when I got my camera. I know the sky is too bright through the trees, and it needs more contrast so that you can see the dof better. More comments are welcome. I plan on going back to this area soon to try some newer photos. So comments will help me do better this next time.

Dawn,
I like it but it needs a little pop. Looks like it was a clody day? Maybe try changing it to B&W as I think that would fit this seen a little better. Very good comp thought!
Well done.
