About A shot of the texas area around hutto/georgetown. With all of the talk about immigration and such, this came to mind. Thanks for looking.

Very interesting Idea! It could be the next front cover for a Pink Floyd album! Violently amazing!
Congrats,

As a left wing sociologist of Irish descent, how could I not agree with this Mark?! I don't know half as much as you about films and the rest of the world, but I got the general principle. Your words being "disaffected" and "underlying issues" just about sums up age old problems.

The Truman Show, have you seen it? What if we just got thru stepping out of that black hole and this was our new surroundings.

Open range if I just left the sky normal it would be a literal meaning, by putting up the 2001 monolith it makes it more of a metaphor.

Immigration because this is texas. I just thought no matter how many walls we build as long as people want a better life and can't get it where they are, and view America and other countries as a place to get one they will come to where life is better. So we can try to help Mexico be a "better" place so the people who feel disaffected want to stay or we can build billion dollar walls that don't solve the underlying issues and keep our heads in the sand.

Ah . . . Is it a portal? A black hole? Both?

Such a strong image Mark. Tell me, is it anti-racism? I love it when there is social politics in your images. Used to live in an area where there were BMP marches- so frightening. As sociologist of Irish descent I hated it.

I liked the grain because it brought a reality to this, well as much as I could have with a big black 2001 obelisk in the sky. Texas is a border state with Mexico and lot of issues seem to be happening with border crossings and illegal immigration. The pink floyd reference is perfect to me though, loved their album covers. Will probably post an other without so much grain just to try a different aspect. Thank you John for the comment :-)

I'm not sure I understand the specific concept you are referring to, but if I ignore that I think the image works very well as it gets me thinking what is it all about. It reminds me of some of the images Pink Floyd used in videos like "High Hopes". I do find this a little grainy though - was that intentional?
