Thanks Bill for your comments. You are absolutely correct the bird is a blue heron. This sparked a debate with my fiancee who thought it was a whooping crane.

First off this is a wonderful shot, the feather detail is incredibale. When you can bring out the clearity in the eye as you have here it just makes the whole shot a winner, congrats!!
BTW, this is a Heron not a Crane, a Blue Heron I think???
