About A young Cape rock scorpion (30mm) of the genus Opisticanthus. Not very poisenous (big pinchers and small sting segment). Used the Nikon SB-R200 flash system with one flash on the lens ring and the other from lower background to highlight the hairs on the tail and pinchers.

You've captured this creature about as well as can be done with maybe the slightest bit more DOF, but definitely good enough. The color of the wood really adds to the picture.

Excellent macro, Joggie. Good detail and colour. Reminds me of the time when my son had a jar full of scorpions he had collected from down the bottom of our back yard. He eventually let them go. I didn't have my macro equipment then, and now I do I don't have any scorpions in this garden.Cheers, Ann.

Excellent macro, Joggie! I don't think I'd want to get too close even if they're not "very poisonous"!
Great details, especially the stinger.
Dave.
