Michael,
Thank-you for the feed back. FYI -- I did shoot a silhouette, but I didn't care for it as much. Also I'm sorry for not replying back sooner I was in the process of moving from base to another base. I will have to go through my images once I get all my stuff from the move and see if I can find the silhouette --- once I do find it, I will send you a copy and let me know what you think so I a little more feed back from you.
Best Wishes, Chuck

Christopher,
Thanks - And yes I did use a flash (SB-26) for fill --- however the desert provides some of the most awesome sunset that I have ever seen -- they are almost always full of warm colors.
Best Wishes, Chuck

Hey, I just wanted to give you compliments on this photograph, I'm wondering exactly how you got the lighting...a flash perhaps?
Anyway, I just felt you should know that my lastest upload was dedicated to you and my combat photographer friend Andrew Pendraki USMC.
Stay safe.

Excellent lighting here, Chuck! As someone else said the fill flash fits perfectly, and the sky colour in the background really sets the mood. Great shot! Dave.

This is superb work, I always tend to slag off you combat camera guys when I see blurry oof shots of the battlefield. And then I realize, oh yeah, they are getting shot at. This shot is proof that not only are you combat cameramen really good (fill flash here is perfect) but you are perfect under fire! My hat goes off to you. Please stay safe, and as always, thanks for sharing these marvelous pics, these guys have put it all on the line for freedom, admiration doesn't begin to decribe...
cheers,
t

Dear Chuck
This is a really great picture, i love the colours.
I have been fully enjoying looking at your pictures and getting a pinch of what these men and women have to go through on a daily basis. Eventhough i am against the whole thing i still admire their courage, dedication to make the planet a safer place and their heroism (SPC Jose A. Velez) and everyone else that are paying the ultimate sacrifice.
Be Safe, Andrew

Hi, Chuck! i admire your work... it need lot of bravery, to do what you do for live... you're a sort of modern R.Capa, for me (for us, i think) and the only one who post that kind of pictures... raw, essentials, but very strong... your shots, make me think to ths song i love, by Alice In Chains ... Ain’t found a way to kill me yet Eyes burn with stinging sweat Seems every path leads me to nowhere Wife and kids household pet Army green was no safe bet The bullets scream to me from somewhere
Here they come to snuff the rooster Yeah here come the rooster, yeah You know he ain’t gonna die No, no, no, ya know he ain’t gonna die
Walkin’ tall machine gun man They spit on me in my home land Gloria sent me pictures of my boy Got my pills ’gainst mosquito death My buddy’s breathin’ his dyin’ breath Oh God please won’t you help me make it through
Here they come to snuff the rooster Yeah here come the rooster, yeah You know he ain’t gonna die No, no, no ya know he ain’t gonna die...
last but no least, you're in that war with the weapon i prefer: your camera... Thank you Ciao Davide
