A very solemn and emotional moment, Chuck. Sad to see the helmet and the boots, with just a picture in front. I think you captured the moment with great dignity, focussing on the portrait of the fallen soldier. This is a very moving image. Even though the sun is shining bright, the stone and rough textures add more harshness than warmth.
Well done, Ina

Susan,

Thank-you for the kind words. If you notice by his boots, helemt and rifle...we normally place a photo of our fallen comrade. Also we try to document these events for the famlies.

What an emotional moment, this one brought tears to my eyes, I like the perspective and what really gives the image an emotional punch is it that you captured the soldiers saluting the fallen marine

Ann,

Again Thank-you for your kind words. On another note - I would never post photos of dead Soldiers (regardless of what country they are from) out of respect for their family and friends. I think when the world media does it - all it does is out rage people and creates an enviorment for hate to breed and grow; which is truly a sad thing.

Best Wishes,

Chuck

Amazing imagery. Definitely a scene that sucks you in and makes you think. A very effective photo.

Although very sad another heartfelt image Chuck. I find your images quite tasteful without political agenda. I would love to see all the soldiers home safely with their families again but if they have to be there you are bringing us images which are heartfelt and human. I can feel emotions without being totally sickened by the sight of gore in war. I know it's there but you are showing us the emotional side rather than the gruesome side which need not be shown here on this site and you are bringing it to us with wonderful photographic quality which is what this site is all about. Your work does make me sad but I visit out of respect for the soldiers and to remember their efforts and sacrifices. Great work Chuck.

Cheers - Ann
