I had just finished doing some aerial photography around Pearl Harbor and we were heading back to Kaneohe Bay. This is actually two photos. When we were out over the water I thought my feet looked cool whipping in the wind, so I shot that. Then, on our way back, we flew over this submarine coming into port. It might have been the USS Honolulu or some other Los Angeles Class Fast Attack Sub. When I got back and saw the photos, I thought they'd go well together. What do you think?
That last comment doesn't work. Even if it was a DOF thing, the legs would be completely out of focus not just the edges. Besides, there's a completely different color scheme going on there. Look at the edges and you can see the different blues where the water from the first photo was. The other comments are right. Again if it was a DOF thing, the lighting would NOT be as drastically different as they are here.
The photo idea is great. Execute it a little better (or actually get the shot and it'll be REALLY impressive) and this photo could be really great. The fashion images are wonderful. Excellent work on that.
This picture is kick ass. I read the other comments and think that this photo matches up pretty well! All you have to say is that you used a low focal range and that you focused on the sub, creating the blurriness of your legs and boots!
Cool shot, I initially thought this was one photo and wondered how you were going to keep your camera dry once you landed in the ocean. Then I thought you could stay dry and just land on the sub.
Oh ya, and I enjoyed the rest of your "feminine" portfolio. How does one apply for such a great job as yours?
I agree the lighting is a little miss matched. The other thing that that looks a little unnatural is the edge of your legs. I suggest that you try blurring the image just a little more so that the legs blend in with the rest of the image as if this was a real shot, the legs would be more out of focus compared to the in focus submarine.
Very cool concept. I'd love to be able to take aerial shots... maybe after I get my pilot's license. hehehe.
But I experienced an "off" feeling when I first saw it -- something wasn't quite right. It took me a moment to pinpoint it, but the lighting is different between the two photos: it comes from the upper-left corner in the pic of the sub; from the upper-right in the pic of your feet.
I'm not sure how the image would look in a vertical orientation (rotate the sub image 90 deg clockwise) with the feet at the bottom, but that would put the lighting more in sync between the two.
