Personally I like the B&W one a little better, and I would have liked to have seen the back ground a little more contrasty to the head of the guitar. I was thinking about doing something like this with my Electric :) I will have to try now :)
Thanks for the comment scott. this was originally a color image, but I am a B & W nut. Attached is a color version. I would have liked some more DOF as well, but I actually shot this handheld and I knew that I was already pushing my luck for a sharp image w/ such a long lense and slow shutter.
This is a nice photo. The light from behind adds a nice glow to the tuning knob. (Ok, my being a guitar player might bias me some). I'm trying to think of what I'd do to improve it and I can only think of Slightly increasing the depth of field. Not too much, Still want those other knobs to be out of focus. Also, I wonder what this would look like in color. Don't get me wrong, I love B&W, sometimes a little color really makes the wood look nice. That is, if the wood is natural in color. Ok, I'm rambling now. :)
