Q. lightweight camera

I have been using the Canon Rebel with a Sigma 17-7- F2.8-4.50 dc macro lens for years and I love them. Sadly as I have developed back problems, it is too heavy for me to carry on trips where there is a lot of walking. I want to get a small point and shoot that I can carry anywhere. Are there any that I can set the aperture? Another option is to get a lighter weight lens to use with the Rebel. Suggestions?
