About I shot this from a bus going to Giverny on the way to Monet's home and gardens. The mill probably was built in the sixteenth century. The old wooden bridge that accommodated it and several other mills was first built in the twelfth century. The original wooden bridge was destroyed and rebuilt several times in the middle ages. Having become unsafe, it was completely destroyed in the early 1800?s and replaced by a stone version in 1861. That was destroyed during the war in 1870, rebuilt in 1872, and bombed in 1940 during WW II. And so today, the modern bridge from Vernon to Giverny is the fourth generation, built in 1955. The birds were a lucky coincidence . . .

Merde! vous êtes toujours dans un autobus, ou un restaurant, ou une église; moi aussi mais toujours sur la même rue :)
Il est beau le vieux moulin et il y a probablement une roue à aube dessous?
amicalement drilan

This is one of those parts of Normandy that I haven't yet been to visit, though I have been very close to Vernon on my various cycling trips (I tend to avoid large towns!). It's nice picture of some typical Norman achitechture George and gives me a reason to change my choice of routes in the future...
