About (Note: f-stop was actually f9.5)
As I was driving to the Sierra the day I took this, I was disappointed at the haze in the sky and didn't think I'd get any decent shots, but it burned off for the most part before I took this at around 12:30 pm. This was taken at a pullout on Hwy 198 a few miles west Sequoia NP.

I've been inspired by UF members to figure out how to use all the bells and whistles on my camera, so finally figured out how to use the manual settings a few days ago. :-0

All constructive comments gratefully appreciated.

Hello Mark,

Thanks for your comment, and all the input about filters on my forum question. I'll give the green idea a try to see what happens . . .

It sounds like a UV filter is on my list now, based on all the comments about them!

Regards,
Anne

This region of California is among my favorites. I have many fond memories of Sequoia NP. F/9.5 really produced a good amount of depth of field. From the ledge in front all the way to the horizon, the focus keeps going. It does look hazy that day. I can see an overall purple or magenta cast in the photograph. I think a single UV filter would have removed a modest amount of UV haze. The contrast is good, so I would not have put on a polarizer or moose filter. In Photoshop, adding a bit of green could quite possibly neutralize the magenta haze. Would be worth a try. But don't change the composition. It's very good.

Ahh... the beautiful Sierras. Excellent photo with perfect exposure for a mid-day shot. Just as I remember the scenes of these mountains when I live in their foothills (El Dorado Hills)in the late '80s. I really like this photograph.

Thank you Anne, The day I spent at Rouse Hill was a particularly photogenic day for me.
I would definitely like to see the hills all green in this photo, from the same spot just for comparison.

Maria,

Thank you for your comment--I took a quick look at your portfolio and love it. I think my favorite thus far is "Andava a cento all'ora" It's well-balanced, the colors of the car are a good contrast with the black and white of the background. I look forward to seeing more of your work when I have more time.

Warm regards,
Anne

Thanks so much for your comment. I had a chance to spend some more time looking at your portfolio and, well . . . WOW. Your work is incredible. I'm looking forward to having some more time to view the rest of your work Sunset Glow and Old Town are my favorites so far.

Warm regards,
Anne

Hello Robert,

Thank you for the comment on this photo. It was taken in the Sierra foothills in California, near Sequoia National Park. I live in Northern California, and the countryside looks pretty much like this as soon as the rains stop for the year around March/April. I'd like to get back to this spot in December or January for a photo of the hills when they are green. I'm still playing around quite a bit with the shutter speed and aperture, so am taking many repeats at different settings to get a feel for the right levels. Possibly a light meter would be a good investment until I figure it out! lol

I took some time to look at your portfolio, and found your Rouse Hill shots to be particularly appealing.

Warm regards,
Anne

Very nice image and well exposed. The depth of field is amazing.
This looks like an area with very dry land even if there is a body of water here.
Glad you found manual mode on your camera. I find I am not even using a meter much these days, just judge the light and set.

Beautiful capture. The blues are absolutely amazing. I really like the perspective you took with this image with the large rocks in the foreground ,the framing tree to the left and then the mountains fading away. The low lying clouds are perfect. Nice work.
