I think the grain adds to the character photo. Great shot.

Oh Captain! My Captain!

Oh Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting...

Whitman

Wonderful pic, congratulations, Robert, well done!!

Love the grain on this photo, but most of all the subject is very real. The lighting is also great.... Overall this is a super moment well captured.

This is a great shot Robert - a true Seaman - as we all remember as kids - something like Captain Highliner - white beard, hat, golden tooth - You captured something here. The photo looks a bit grainy - however - it adds character and age to an ageless photo.

Great Job

Kelly

Wonderful capture. I like the grain but I don't think that it is well represented in this digital version. Did you apply an unsharp mask at the end? I'm guessing yes, and that it made the grain stand out a little too strongly (IMHO).

I like this photo a lot, great portrait, great composition. Just a minor question, is the beard real?
Otherwise it's perfect and very appealing.
Best regards, Alex
PS Appreciate very much your generous comments on my pictures.

i love it!
this is THE seaman...white bead, classic hat...a face that have seen many many things...
the graininess add the roughness necessary....
Bravo!

Great Photo. I think the grain in this case, makes the picture a stronger one... know what I mean?

A great shot! It's a bit grainy, but it won't get the smile off my face (and neither of the seaman's face)
