I was drawn to this picture from the pretty pastel colors in the thumbnail, and it looks like that's exactly what the intent was! It looks like Photoshop was used to blur the image in various spots to make it look like painting. I think that worked really well in the trees, but not so well in the water. Maybe it's because whenever real water looks blurry, it also has ripples, but there aren't any ripples in this picture. I'm not sure. Anyway, I like the overall effect a lot!

Kim, let me take a guess about the overexposure question without really knowing what I'm talking about. Here's a quote from one of the articles in the "Photo Articles" section of this site:

"Any color film saturates if slightly underexposed, so if you really want the colors to be rich, underexpose by a third or maybe half a stop."

If that's true, it stands to reason that the colors overexposed film would be undersaturated, which is just another way to say "pastel". So ... now that I've gone out on a limb, can anybody say for sure if I'm on the right track here?

Now this one looks like a painting... very nice effect. But I am curious as well, why overexposing it would give it a more painterly feel? I like the positioning of the boat with the reflection and the in and out reflection of the trees. Nice to see that you had a goal before hand and worked towards it to create this image.... it really is lovely.
