Hi Preston, I prefer this shot to the previous one, You seem to have much more detail in this. You have composed it well, and IMO he makes a better subject because he is not looking at or directly at the camera, so it shows his head off very nicely, giving it nice depth to his shape and balances the subject nicely. With the composition you have included some of the pond in the background and with the aperture at that setting it is, out of focus, leaving a bit for the mind to think about(Very nice). The colors are nice and natural, unfortunately, and through no fault of yours, the grass is a bit brown and dry looking, but then again under the circumstances, that is what you got. I do not mean to insult you or to discourage you by any means, and I do not claim to be anything of an expert,(Actually just a raw amateur, and believe me i have got plenty of pics that aren`t half as good as yours.)but this is my opinion, and i think you have great potential. But like most things in life,Practice makes perfect, and you are on your way already, I hope you are enjoying your new camera, and i must say, I get real jealous when I hear of someone getting a new camera, Hope you enjoy your photography and posting here at UF and look forward to seeing more pics. Happy snapping Cheers Russell:)
