Kim and her husband in a limo shot. It was pitch black in there, and I was focusing manually, so I had no idea if it would come out well. I was pleasantly surprised!
i am not a big fan of photjournalistic wedding shoots, but this is a pretty good shot. it's one the couple will enjoy for a long time. i am impressed with this image because its diffcult enough to keep tabs on the contrast with the black tux, the white dress and caucasian skintones, darker-skinned people make this an even bigger challenge. taking a shot from color negative films and desaturating it often leads to los of details, but you did a good job of taming the contrast and gamma on this one.
This is a wedding shot and a nice at that, it's not a commerical shot were you have the time to make everything perfect. I like the emotion and feeling of the image, and I'm sure the couple liked it. There are a few things that would make the image stronger, But it's still a nice image.
I don't believe this is severly contrived at all and there is emotion in this photo -- I guess it could be posed and maybe if it had been a spur of the moment shot it would be better, but I think saying it is "severely contrived" is a bit harsh.
Severly posed and contrived, try a little bit more natural imagery of the people, get the people in this image not the impression of a wedding, get the emotion of it....
I am very surprised that your autobiography says you don't know much about photography. Now, I don't know much about photography, but your shots are amazing. Sorry, not trying to make your head too big (ha, ha), but they are. This one is simply another one. I love the moment it captured. That is me, always focusing on moments. Still, that is what photos are about at times. I take a lot of wedding photos and I have to say this is one of the better ones I have seen. I think wedding photos are mostly about snapping the perfect moment and I think this is one of them.
