Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I now know where I went wrong - I hadn't anticipated the amount of motion blur on a 3sec exposure. If I had increased ISO to compensate (as you did) I would probably have been more succesful. Ah, well only a few years to wait for the next opportunity.
Thanks, Nick

Hermen, These are great images.
I tried to photograph the eclispe but without much success. Exposing for the moon during the pre-umbria was okay, but once the moon was wholly in the earth's shadow I could not get sharp images due to the long exposures needed despite using a tripod & remote release.
I would be interested to know your technique/exposure details for the bottom row of images.
Nick

Dave, I like the painterly quality of light you have captured in the sky. I hope you don't mind, but I am a sucker for strong colour images and think this image works well in colour as attached.
Kind Regards, Nick

It's not often you see blue skies like this in Lancashire!
The composition is pleasing enough, but it seems to me the large central tree is the focal point of the image. That being the case I think a similar shot taken during the Autumn with coloured leaves may have more impact.

Good composition & the lighter treatment is a big improvement.
I wonder how this looks in colour. There appears to be some interesting sky/cloud detail - are there any interesting colours in the light/decaying boat?

I think this portrait is fabulous. Pose, composition and post production are all to be commended. Having browsed your portfolio I think you have a very distinctive style which is very much to my taste. Keep up the good work - it's an inspiration.

Excellent image. I just feel it burns out a little too early at the bottom of the image, unless the original uncompressed version still has some fine detail there.
I bet this would look great printed on a fine art paper and mounted in a white frame.

People often get in the way when photographing well known sites, but I think this location really benefits from their inclusion for scale.
I like the simple composition & interesting sky. I am inspired to try a B&W conversion of my own Angel shots taken earlier in the year. Will let you know if I post.

Just goes to show it's not the equipment but what you do with it. Sharp eyes, shallow depth of field, great light. I would be proud to have taken this shot.

Great image Vito. The lines and composition are quite striking.
How did you achieve the detail in the figure on the shadow side of the column? Were there strong lights in front of and behind the steel structure, did you use flash or computer processing?

Beleive it or not I've been to this toilet after having tea with the proprietor of the tea shop on the causeway!
As it is located on a salt flat I am interested to note your red/brown toning. I feel the natural colours may reflect the harshness of the environment better.
That said, good shot. Amusing composition.
