Thanks, Rich. I was delighted to get a shot of her with her beak open... I drove up to Lodi and happened in to the wildlife expedition at the Sand Crane festival (worth going to, btw)-- otherwise I doubt if I'd have a chance to get so close to a bald eagle. The Bay Area does have so many opportunities for photos, I need to take advantage of them more :)

Thanks again for looking (and raising my rating on this!)

This is a lovely, cute, shot. I like the contrast of the kitten and the ball, and really appreciate the info in your comment to Bill.

Hi Bill, thanks for your comments. The material is actually a photocube, or light box-- that we put the kittens in to take the pictures. It helps us keep them in one spot (forward is the only way out, and there are usually TWO of us to keep them IN), and we can get a more even light. The fabric is sort of crumpled, but we are trying to get a good shot of the kitten, since they are up for adoption and we are trying to get some interest in them. This guy got adopted last week, I think.

I would have liked the ball closer to him, but I take what I can get-- If I had tried to move it he would have broke his pose. I usually have to take at least 10 shots to get one with the kitten posed half way decent.... Oh well, at least I can put them in the box, the dogs don't like it so much, plus a 85 lb dog doesn't fit into a 36" cube :) so I have to deal with a leash and an often distracting background when I take their pics.

More info than you needed or wanted, I'm sure!

Thank you, Tay. Edo is one of my cats (the kittens in my photos are ones up for adoption at the place I volunteer). Edo is very shy, and hated the camera, but he was distracted by the butterflies that invaded our yard (hundreds of them!) so I was able to finally get a good shot of him.

I love your portfolio-- you have many wonderful photos of cats on it.

Thanks for your comments, Kes. I don't know what it was used for. I could guess somesort of guard structure, or maybe a ferry landing? I'll have to do some research... but it is a cool looking structure (I love things that are falling apart, as long as they aren't MINE!)
