Thank you, Bill. This is one of the shots that would have been better with the 80-400 VR lens. I'm going to try to go back tomorrow and try again.

Great job buddy, Nice reflection and composition. My only advice is for birds in fligh, instead of F/11, use F/5.6. That will increase your sharpness. That's another valuable lesson I got from Marcus. Keep them coming, you are doing a great job. Yamil

Thanks, Bill. The 18-200 is a nice lens. I really need to work on my technique more, since the D200 is a bit heavy. But it is a nice size lens, with a good range. It's good for most everyday shots, except maybe macro and long distance wildlife shots. It is great for landscapes.

Awesome shot Christine. I like the blurt effect on its wings and good job with the background. I am glad you finally make it to Radio Rd. It was Marcus Armani who first introduced me to this place. Because of that I always will be grateful to him. If you are patient and have the time, you can get almost every migrant duck in that pond. The good news is that they will stay there until April, so you’ll have plenty of time. During this time of the year the best time to shot there is after 2pm when you get the benefits of the so called “Golden Hour”. As a matter of fact, I was there this afternoon taking pictures with Marcus, Jinggoy and Rich. And them we when to some of the other adjacent ponds. We probably missed you for a few minutes. If you have the time, look tomorrow for the Wood Duck at Venice beach, near the parking lot. Take care and hope to find you in the field one of these days. Yamil

Thank you for your comments, Ken. Nice to meet another animal rescuer. Eight years, boy, that's a long time-- a lot of lives saved. Thank you for your work to save the critters. I'm in the far East Bay, but if you ever want to volunteer ... ;))

I see some noise in the yellow part of the pic. Nise Ninja would help to remove it. Head of the duck should have been a little lighetr to enable the viewres feel the texture of the fur and skin of the duck's head. Good overall.

Thanks for the link, Christine, it was very interesting! The historic Coast Guard photo at that site shows all the buildings that were there...that was one crowded rock! Apparently the light was hung off the front of the building (with windows) in your shot, and not the top of the other structure. Maybe it was the 20,000 gallon water tank that was mentioned.
I used to have a romantic notion that a lighthouse would be the thing to operate...until I discovered that they were sometimes required to go out on the water during storms. :)
