I always go back to the first post of people. The first post usually tells me more about a person than all the rest. The first post is nearly always, "Look!" in nature. Just about everyone makes their first post an image they think is their best... and it is true to their style. This is very well done! Did I tell ya I like flower macros? Don't go and take my first post as ,y true nature. I have already deleted over 1000 posts to this site... I am the exception to the "Jimmie" rule... kekekekek

I have the same thought. I call it dying/not dead. There are times when a bit of nature hangs on and still breathes color. I love that concept... some dead, some still living.

I am a sucker for floral shots like this. DOF shallow, with color contrast/blend...(either/or)... All ya need now is to wear a baseball cap...and I am all yours. Kekekekekekekek
(kekekekek = lol... a lot of times)

A bit grainy... looks as if ya took a wide shot then cropped and this is what was left. I like it. I really do... I like the white/black aspect. I love the wee composition what shows all. Yet it looks like a part of a larger image... That does not mean it is wrong/bad... it is a grand pic... just a bit grainy.

Boy did you catch a winner or what??
This is really cool Christine, I think you did the right thing turning into a B&W too.
Congrats on the DOD too,
Bill

Christine: Beautifully caught. Very nice work. 1/1000 @ f/11 denotes around ISO 500 or so. Looks good.

Christine: Neat shot! We have about 10-12 of these guys hanging about our thistle feeders right now. The Pine Siskins who usually hog all the seed are careful around them but I haven't seen any fights.

Christine: Neat!! The bird seems in a hurry. I don't think I've ever seen a Green Heron fly. They are usually quite calm. Thanks again for your comments.

Excellent capture Chris, love the natural setting
of the background and the wing position.
How fast is the 80-400 for in flight capture?
The 300/4 is so slow but gives excellent image and sharpness.
7+++

I shoot Aperture Priority 5.6/6.3 @ iso 400.
If light really low push up ISO and use a noise remover.

Thanks, Bek-- the GG Bridge is a great model, and the fog goes with the territory. I was actually hoping to get a shot WITHOUT the fog, but this worked pretty well.

Take care, and regards to your mother-in-law ;))
