Wonderfully surreal, great motion and color. I like the action image of the girl at bottom center, kind of a transition from the static forms of the people to the whirling rides. Very nice, and a favorite.

Lovely scene, Russell. Didn't you try to shoot it with slightly faster shutter speed? I guess it would have made the glow looks sharper...
Congrats, my friend.

Hanggan

Thanks Nikolai,
Sorry to say I don't think they are stars, but a few dust specks from when i scanned the image,I just have never touched it up.
I know what you mean about the glow from cities, Perth doesn't have a very deep CBD so the glow is not extremely evident.
No real PS, just increased the contrast a touch turn the night sky blacker, and i guess this may have reduced any city glow. But I think this just corrected a slight over exposure.

Great shot. I like how you can see stars above city. Usually in the shot like this there would be strong yellow glow form the city. Did you do any PS work on this?

Hi Russel; what an excellent long exposure-- composition and lighting are perfect. The long curving bands of red and yellow lights streaming into and out of the city lead the viewers eye right into the city-- and all the starbursts are cool. Very well envisioned and photographed. Congrats.

Thanks for kind comments on my Monster Wave photo-- I like it too;>) Cheers. Craig

Hanggan,
Yes, i would have to agree, if I was to throw the background out of focus, it would reduce any distractions from the houses there. At the time I was more concentrating on the waddling goose in front of me. Next time, will remember to open up my aperature alot more.
Thanks
Russell

Hanggan,
Thanks for your thoughts, this was the reason i placed this photo in the Photo Help section.
Yes, a particular barrel in focused would have been an excellent alternative.
I am heading back to this winery in the new year, so i might try and sneak into this area and try and apply some of your suggestions.
I think an alternative perspective of the barrels will be one i would like to try.
Thanks, for your other comments and for adding me to your Friends list.
Cheers and Thanks, your humble opinions were greatly recieved.

Dear Russel,
In my humble opinion, I guess if you focus on a single barrel (whether in front or in the center), while keeping the background barrels blurred, that will make a better picture. And you can take from different angle to show a more obvious perspective of the barrels. The big barrel in the foreground, somehow feels annoying...no offense..

Hanggan

Good shot, Russell. Honestly, I think it will be better if the background is blurred. What do you think?

Russell,

great picture. It could be named "A saucer full of secrets" (and it actually reminds of some pictures in Pink Floyd album covers!)
Wonderful perspective.

Paulo

I don't actually *know* about color integrity from scanners to adobe, but it is possible.

If you ever get a chance to do your own color processing, I would suggest it. It not only gives more creative control over color and exposure, but builds an eye for subtle color corrections.

My thought, actually, is that the photo place that processed this just did a color balance with more green...

There is sooo much life in this image. It is very pleasing for the mix of intense color and detail, as well as an engaging look into another culture. T.

Thanks Geoff,
I don't do my own processing, i just scan them later. I had never really noticed the green tinge you mentioned before, but the magenta and yellow does add some more warmth to the picture.
Is there thoughts that scanners add a green bias to the images?? or was that just a statement you made?
I have only just been made aware of the dust removal function on my scanner, will check it out when i am home next, but the healing tool does work well.

I really like this. The soft focus... very well used.

However, and I don't know if you do your own color processing, the color seems a wee-bit green to me (could just be the scan too)

Kudos

Thanks Carla for pointing me in the direciton of another example similar to this.
There is a fire poi in each of the persons hands, and also one other person in the background, thats where a few extra fire trails have come from. But the exposure was a few seconds worth, so enough time for a number of revolutions and crosses.
