Very nice image Ryan. I don't know what the whole thing about 'dramatism' is... Surely the essence of a good image is that it is dramatic. Unless of course, the photographs are for informational purposes. I like the drama in this. Keep the children just as they are and don't change a thing. Its awesome! Best regards Sean

That does makes sense Michael and the image works well in that regard. Apologies if I have taken liberties.

Hey Michael. This is really great. I like the crop and you have placed your daughter nicely in the frame leaving a pleasing amount of negative space. I think I would agree with Michele. Maybe you could put the toned layer on a different layer to the original and reduce the opacity a bit? Also a duplicate layer with a Gaussian Blur of about 6-8 pixels and then a soft light blend works nicely sometimes. I have taken the liberty of attaching a reworked example for you using the above. Obviously I do not have an original so just had to make do with the toned copy. I also added a frame to 'contain' the black space. I apologise for doing this on my first post, but if I like an image, I always try to see it critically.

You presume correctly Mr Bain! Although I am currently residing in London. Went back for three weeks - this time seeing everything through a photographer's eyes and was blown away. Can't believe that I took such a beautiful country for granted.

This is wonderful. Love the sense of movement. Looks like you panned the shot and you did well to capture her so sharply. I think the B&W emphasizes this sense of movement and the camera tilt works well to create an interesting diagonal . Love it!

Thanks so much for that Igor. I think the lack of contrast comes from a little too much 'fiddling' in PS! Thanks for the excellent comment. Regards Sean

LOL! To be honest I was considering it, but thought I'd behave for now as I'm still relatively new and don't want to make waves! ;-D
Thanks for the comment.

This is so beautiful. Love the clarty retained in the instrument's details whilst you have the softness applied by the filter... The lighting is great and I think the way that the violin is emerging out of the shadows adds so much depth to this. Gorgeous.

Great work Ryan. You see a few of these images around, but none are as pleasing as this. You have achieved a nice symmetry in the motion-trails and the crop is good. Good clarity in the image. So often the trails are 'over-blurred'. Nice! Best regards, Sean

I like this. Totally natural subject yet manipulated to create a rather unusual effect. Strong diagonals and good manipulation work make this a fine image. Best regards, Sean

A good use of shadows and lighting. I do however find that the repetitive patterns and the texture of the bricks leave my eye trapped in the foreground. I feel that a larger strong shadow looming more in the f/g and serving as a main focal point would have just finished this off nicely. Nice work! Best regards, Sean

I like this. The toning brings out the details nicely in the lighter parts of the picture and the composition is strong. A majestic image and the post-processing work has been well done. Best regards, Sean
