Great capture, Dave!
Was it dangerous? Hm....

Regards, Nedim.

Interesting that it was the scaffolding Dave. To remedy that sharpening the image a bit might help minimize the blur. Something to tinker with to see it makes a difference.

Let's hope you weren't driving. As far as the image goes, its a great shot of nature's fury. Good work.

So, was this taken through the rearview mirror while driving in the opposite direction as fast as reason would allow? That's probably how I would do it. ;-)

Photograph was taken on Sea Lion Island in the Falkland Islands, one of the perks of the job!
I think the nose was warning me i was as close as it safe to be!

Dave, sometimes here I see an image and wonder how it was that I failed to see that ...or how I need to go there to see...
But in this case I wonder how you came face to nose with what appears to be an elephant seal? I do think the half opened eye is overwhelmed by the nose so the title is questionable...or are we trying to draw attention AWAY from the nose? Nice image, glad i wasnt there.- john

Wow. Nice shot, but...what is that? You might consider using ps to increase saturation and to darken it jsut slightly but i think it looks good as is too. Just really curious as to what has a nose like that...

Ah, now I see the scaffolding. This is still a great photo, I hope that you can go back and try and recreate it once the scaffolding is down.

Personally I blame the bridge. As you can see from this image the fuzziness is scafolding!
Thanks for your comments

Great light, subject and composition but what happened to the span closest to the camera? Is it my eyes or the image?

Amazing color. That is a lot of algae in that lake. The lighting in the foreground is a bit hot. Perhaps another time of day or a mildly overcast day might yield a more even exposure. I know you're not a photoshop person, but photoshop is still useful for color correcting images (digital or film) so that they look closer to the original. I tinkered with your image and I'll be surprised if you see the difference. In togglign back and forth between your original and this file there is a subtle difference. Some shots yield greater differences than others. The shadows are a little deeper in my version and the green of the lake pops just slightly more. The only modifications done were to adjust contrast and the levels of the image. I hope this helps. Very neat portfolio.

Neat shot, but something looks amiss with the bridge. Either you image is fuzzy and out of focus in one location or you've cloned something out and it doesn't look quite right. Great reflection!

Beautiful composition, with a curve gently guiding our eyes to the bridge, well framed with the tree and a good light, making beautiful reflexes.

I love the framing. The stone wall at the shore leads my eyes right up to the low bridge. The colors reflecting off the water are great. Nice photo!
