This is excellent! I don't know much about fashion photography, but I do know that I like this!

I think its a bit too red, and there is no catchlight, but the composition and expression are very strong.

As Barry points out, for me a catch in her eye would have added a lot to this. Without it, the eye looks flat. My eyes keep going from the highlights on the pearls to her eye and wondering why there's no light there. Hope that makes sense.

Florian,

Nice composition. I don't know if the scan softened the scan, but in the attachment, I increased the catchlight size...

@petros: thanks
@ivan: thanks, i hope in the future some pictures will be there:-)
@chris: yes, the orange banner was painted with photoshop. a other posibility is to use painter. a realy good programm to work with color and paper. the lightsetting was one lamp for the background and one striplight in the foreground for the model. thanks,

Florian, as a fashion photographer, I love the shot. Just a quick question. Was the orange band added after the fact (photoshop)? It looks to have some strong back lighting, but I don't see evidence of any backlighting on the orange band. Either way, I think it works well and definately adds to the shot. The little triangle thing doesn't bother me, except that it does seem to confirm that it was a photoshop addition. Am I wrong?

@jeff: thanks for your comment. the crop of the head is for me a tool to go harder at the expression. i think it?s a trend:-)
with the broken triangle you are right. i think the band should be a little bit deeper, so its in the vertical middle.

thanks

ps: sorry, i hope you understand, my english is realy bad:-)

I don't mind the crop. I think it works quite well. And yes, this could very well be in a UK Magazine!

Well done Florian :-)

Hi Florian. I like the picture. It is well lit and the pose is good. I guess it is personal preference about the cropping but I would not crop quite as close to a model's head. [all of the high fashion magazines here in the UK seem to do it though so I guess it is a trend and I am out of touch] 8>

The exposure is good and retains a lot of highlight detail. My nitpick is the yellow band. At first I thought it worked quite well but the broken triangle of yellow under the model's left arm keeps drawing my eye to it. What do you think? Nice work!

Cheers!
Jeff
