About My 20mm SLR lens is not quite as good against the light as my 21mm RF lens, but you use what you have with you. I think this captures the lovely deep red of the lacquered bridge and the autumn foliage well enough...

This is a beautiful setting. I love the way the bridge and stones have some character and the way you have placed them in your shot. The red in the bridge mirroroing the red in the trees certainly adds to your lovely composition. It is very pretty.

You may be right about trimming a bit off the top, Gabriela. I am not very good at cropping, it appears... glad you liked it.

Lovely! My type of photo!!! But... you might have cut the upper part a bit(? No...yes...?)... and not a sound was heard...just the autumn ambling on the bridge.

I feel badly that I come to this image so late to comment (internet problems hopefully fixed).
Roger this is stunning. If only, I repeat if only your location had soft blue skies for you to work with. You would leave us breathless.

I could live with four pixels, but I'm hoping that Usefilm will offer a frame option at upload, i.e., choose width, choose colour, and add it to the outside of the photo. That would be changeable with the "Edit your picture" menu, so I could play with it... But somehow I can't get excited about frames, never think of them even when they might be a good idea against the UF all-white background.

Nothing much new on UF to catch my eye, so I've come to look through the back catalogues of a few friends. (OK, this one's not so far back, but I'll get there...)

This shot really captures a (Westerner's view of) Japanese feeling. I like the echo of the red of the bridge in the tree. On my screen there's some noise in the sky, but this could just be my struggling old laptop.

I was interested in your comments on frames. I've experimented a little with frames and currently use simple ones for two reasons: (1) to help certain images stand out against the white UF background or to hold the image in, or (2) to portray images that I see as "poster art" as I would like to see them to be displayed.

For (1), I use a 4 pixel frame, which does not really eat into the 800 UF limit.

A gorgeous archetypal Japanese scene, Roger.
Great colours and composition, as expected!!
Best regards, Chris

The flow of lines in tree / branches and the bridge is wonderful, very harmonic. Clever use of wide angle, excellent composition. Maybe an "in-camera" fix would be possible with a soft grad ND filter for the sky area, but thats not a major issue. Superb autumnal colors and great the strong red of the bridge.

Very nice composition and the superia 400 is nice too.

A finely composed image of this Japanese autumnal scene, Roger. A pleasing subject arangement. I like the inclusion of the inevitable, little arched bridge, to remind us where this is. You've minimized the leaves, bleeding into the light (something my new Canon is very poor at!)

Overall, your scene promotes tranquility, Roger - I think I'll have a greeen tea now!

Regards
Colin

Thank you, cytte. I never do add frames to my pictures, it just doesn't seem worth the trouble... but maybe I should consider it sometimes. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe if Usefilm offered to add a simple black frame without deducting it from the available 800 pixels, I would use it.

Don't worry, Susie, I got what you meant, although I am also used to people who tell me I ought to add a frame. That's just not my thing, though. I have one "frame" in 700 pictures so far, and I'm trying to keep the same ratio.

I agree with you, the color of the bridge and the leaves form a very pleasant connection. As in another photo, you use the bright light to your advantage without 'wash out' in a key area. That is, one is able to see the bridge and the highlights of the leaves. Really well done. Plus, it's fun to sense that you are having a lot of fun with your Voigtlander. Thanks for sharing. Rodney

Yes, Eddy, I would have asked for a nice blue sky if I could... This lens is also a bit subject to flare, alas, and that didn't help the colours.

too bad it is a bit overcast on the upper left corner. it washes out the fall color a bit.

I meant print it and frame it and hang it on the wall, not frame it online. Just wanted to make sure you knew what I meant.
