About	Another shot of Antoinne. From the same shoot as the last image posted. Repeated explanation below. This is an image that I took in 1971 of a great old guy named Antoinne. He used to be the caretaker of the factory where I did my apprenticeship. He would come around every day and talk to everyone in the shop. When he got to another person to talk to, he would roll another cigarette. He couldn't tell us how old he was, because he didn't know. He was not slow witted and he was a great story teller. His father was a Native North American Iroquois and his mother was French Canadian. He used to tell us stories of fishing Lake Superior with his father and uncles when he was about 10 years old. He claimed this was in the late 1890's. So that would have made him around 80 when this photo was taken. Scanned from the original negative. Tri-x asa 400 developed in D76 Never printed

Thanks for the intrest,
I had anothe shot of Antoinne that was scanned from a Kodachrome slide. I didn't post it because I thought I would quite while I was ahead. You know.. leave them wanting more before they get sick of him :)
Anyway here it is as an attachment.

There he is again! I don't know why but this series is so intruiging to me. His face has so much character..I can see this print on the wall of an old cafe or something. I really like it Andre. It just has something special.

Hi Thilo,
I did notice that..where the light comes up against his face. I tried softening it up a bit before posting. (it was worse than this) I think I would have had to isolate the area to improve it a little more and blend it in.

I think we all go through that stage Ray :)
What did it for me was when I saw the movie "Blow-up". Surely you must have seen it? The one where David Hemmings plays a hip, mod photographer in London in the mid 60's. As soon as I saw that movie, I wanted to buy a camera and take it with me everywhere. You never know when a couple of young models will drop by for a casual romp :)
Well... okay, it wasn't just the models, there was Vanessa Redrave in her prime too :) And the Bently rag-top he was driving, and the London studio. My God I've just realized I've missed my calling. :)

I like this one even more as Antoinne is even placed more out of the center =)

there are some sharpness fragments (the lights, the left outline of his face) that you might work on. anyway, I like this glimpse into the past.

Another wonderful shot of this great character from your past Andre. I too can remember taking shots of this nature thinking I was the very bees knees of a photographer. That, for me , would have been mid to late fifties. 1st camera a cheap Halina then onto my first old and S/H Leica, a 111A. Best wishes and keep those shots a-coming....Ray

That camera was my first major purchase of any kind. I bought it new in 1969 and still have it and use it. It is in perfect working order and has never been repaired. My youngest son used it during his Photography classes just a couple of years ago. It was one of my best investments ever. I remember my dad at the time thinking I was crazy for spending $275.00 on a camera.
When using B&W I almost exclusively used Tri-x 400, mainly because of the low light capability, but I also liked the grain.
