About This is the first composite image I have done. I'm pretty good with graphic layout but this was much harder than I'd expected. My hat is off to others who do this! As I mentioned with my "Inside Grand (#1)" image, this is from the first shoot with my first wide angle lens. Lots of firsts here! Once again going for a poster look. I hope you like it.

Superb collage (first? wow!) with amazing details and curves. Love that continuing curve, each picture is wonderful. Very classy Black & Gold color scheme for a poster! Great lighting, too. Well done, Mark!

Thanks Stefan, the strong lines in the subject do add to the challenge, especially with the border lines running through the center of the composite. I used a wide angle lense for these shots which gave me a more interesting perspective in some cases, but it also tends to bend the straight lines in the subject. The two top shots on the right need their lines to be straight in order for this composition to work. Cropping off the distortion near then edge of the shots helped keep the lines straight.

I think it is especially challenging because of the strong lines you have to accomodate. The diagonal shot in the lower right is definitely a good thing (c) here.

Thanks Bob! It's one of the highest compliments and honors to inspire. Thank you very much for the kind words. Of course, it's the instruments that inspire. There is so much beauty in musical instruments of all sorts, in still life or in performance, though shooting them in performance is a lot more challenging than in still life, I can tell you. I've dabbled in live performance photography but I'll stick with still life for the moment! And your compliment makes me want to shoot more instruments in a series. An interesting idea. I can't wait to see your work, maybe we'll start a trend.

Hi Mark,
Both of these are incredible. I really like the fine textures and beautiful colors. Your still life instrument images have inspired me, and I hope to shoot some of my own over the winter months.

Congrats!

Best regards,
Bob

Thanks for the good word Carlheinz. You are the first to notice how the upper middle and upper right images flow. I must say that getting those to flow right was a frustrating task! Much harder to line things up than I'd expected. There propbably is some easy PS trick for that, but I don't know it!

Very well composed and presented. My favorite part is how the upper middle images flows into the upper right one. Excellent work!!!
