About A small orb web spider(<10mm)- Araneus sp. These spiders spin an orb web every night and lay in wait for their prey, normally in the centre of the web. This specific spider acted differently - it spun an intricate set of trip wires on the flat surface of an Arum lily, waiting for insects to set of the trap. The one tripwire is visible at the tip of the leg to the right.

Not as sharp as I would like it but I thought its behaviour warrant sharing. Taken with the 105mm Nikkor micro plus my 2.75xPanagor macro converter, (3:1 magnification ratio) and the ringflash. Slightly cropped to place the spider in the centre. Contrast, brightness and sharpness adjusted in CS2.

Great shot, Joggie. It looks very creepy. Certainly has it's beady little eyes fixed on you. Those fangs look nasty too. Glad you shared. Cheers, Ann.

That is positively scary. The focus is on the right part of the creature. The soft focus does not affect the strength of the composition. :) Andree

Nice spider shot, Joggie. I just wish that more of the legs were in focus. But some intersting facts about the subject - you had there...

I think it is pretty sharp. Great dof, well done. Nice bokeh too.
