Peaceful, serene, quiet. Words that come to mind looking at this photo. Of course, I'm playing hookie at work and viewing photos while ignoring work I need to do. Great shot!

Hi Kes.....just returning your kind visit.
This is a wonderful composition. There is a stark beauty to it and it looks like an artistic pen and ink drawing. I love the way you have contained them in the upper part of the study. STUNNING work. Best wishes.....Ray

Very beautiful work, even on my poorly monitor at the office. Offsetting the subjects gives dimension. The animal tracks give it some motion.

Usually, I'm not a fan of borders and frames but, you might experiment with one here. Perhaps one composed of images of twigs very faintly rendered would help the image from drifting of the page.

Thanks for sharing this.

Bob

Hi Kevin -

No scaffolding; these aspen were on a hillside on one side of a small valley.

I was on the opposite side of the valley, about 100- 150 yards distant.

My elevation was a little higher.

Thanks for the visit!
-Kes

correction time;

"It looks like the camera was at a little lower elevation than the trees, and the distance was probably 100 - 150 yards. "

obviously should have been:

It looks like the camera was at a little HIGHER elevation than the trees, and the distance was probably 100 - 150 yards.

Hi Linda! Thank you for your kind comment...a fortune, eh? Sound$ good!!

These aspens were on the side of a hill sloping towards my location on another hill across a small valley (or gulch as we call them here).

It looks like the camera was at a little lower elevation than the trees, and the distance was probably 100 - 150 yards.

The snow beneath the trees had a sculpted shape due to the wind - snowdrifts - and I think this provides some distortion to the shape of the tree shadows.

Almost minimalistic. The comp is working very, very well and the white helps a lot the shot. I just would like to burn the shadows on the path track to make it more effective and anchor a little bit more the comp. Anyway, it?s unique and beautiful. Congratulations !

This is gorgeous Kes. I LOVE how you didn't put any frame and the white matches the UseFilm b/g so perfectly it gives it a 3-D look off the page.
