About His way, Montréal, Québec, Canada, August 2004

I was taking a shot of the arrows and was totally unaware of this guy walking in. I could not see him in the viewfinder. I first saw him on the contact sheet. I was very pleased.

I replaced the title "My way" by "His way" since it didn't turn out the way I had planned it.

This picture was taken with a Certo-phot camera. It was built in East Germany about 40 years ago. The shutter speed is fixed and there's only 2 aperture to choose from (f/8 and f/11). It operates like an Holga camera. It is however a sturdier camera with its metal body.

The negative was scanned with an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner. The image was converted from color to b&w and Contrast was increased in Photoshop.

Thanks for your comments. Regards, Claude

Hi Claude,

what a great capture! The perspective from above is just awesome. and the strong contrast between the street and the signs on the street is perfect as well. I like that Agent Smith type guy on the right, too. great stuff!

best wishes,
Thilo

Wonderful. The pedestrian really adds to it, both thematically and formally for scale. Gorgeous dark tonality too.
