Thanks, E., but you misunderstand. This was not taken with an MF (= medium format) camera like the Pentax 645, but with an MF (= manual focus) camera, the "retro" Voigtlander Bessaflex! It takes standard 35mm film... but the lens is a very new design and really good! Auto focus would have fixed on the young man nearest the camera and spoiled the long arcade prospect I was aiming for...

Nice and sharp. Great perspective. Makes me want to run out and buy a MF camera!

Welcome to the MF users, Craig! I am sure you will have fun. The Pentax 645 is a nice camera and has some very good lenses. It is better at the wide end than Bronica and Mamiya according to knowledgeable friends. Thanks for the comment, too. I was amazed at the depth of focus from infinity at F/2 with my new 40mm lens... I'm glad I didn't have anything closer than the young man, though! That seemed to be about the limit for an acceptable image.

Great shot Roger! I like how the guy in the foreground in slightly out of focus!
By the way, I just bought my first medium format camera. A Pentax 645. Should be fun.

Dear Zeev, I just noticed the photo of you. I had always imagined you as a very young man... your photos are so bright and fresh. I can't see too clearly, but it looks as if you are nearer my age. (I am old enough to retire but can't afford to!)

Your new Voigtlander has given you a great result, in this classic street shot, Roger. The sharp focus is constant thoughout the depth. A very good result with f2. Fine and natural colouring is refreshing, in these days of over-coloured/sharpened, software refining. Other than the faces and lettering, this has the appearence of a typical Western arcade. A fine addition to your street series, Roger.
Thanks for your latest comments. Always different and informative!
Colin

Yes, Paul, it was quite late. The mall largely shuts down at about 8:00pm, and it was about that or a bit later when I took the shot.

Thank you, Marcia. Did you look at the earlier shot of the same place with the WA lens? (see the "about")? There is another beautiful face in that one! Just faces in the crowd, but unforgettable.

Oh! This is great, Roger!!! What happens there with the ceiling going and going into the depth of the photo is very beautifully shot! My eyes went directly there! Congratulations! Gabriela

Stunning view Roger and an excellent perspective, high quality exposure. I had an opportunit of buying a Mamiya 645 Pro with three lenses real cheap, but eventually denied the offer. I will continue with the 35mm EOS 50E and shoot negative film now and then.

How odd, John. I can assure you they placed themselves. Perhaps it's the lack of clearly defined shadows?

Spectacular mall shot, Roger. I think the young man in the foreground is a real asset to the shot. Very nicely done. Best regards, Chris

This is a great shot, Roger. I can't quite work out why, but it gives the impression of the people have been "added". AJ
