Amazing light and superb composition Mark. The colors are great. I love the contrast between the neo-classical style of the foreground building and the super-modern skyscraper in the background. Good eye Mark, and thanks for your comments!

Best regards,
ferran

Hi Mark, I'm really happy that I saw this image, I think it wouldn't hurt if you wrote them, or found out about any anniversary events the City might have! Anyway, I thought it was very special.

Thanks for your kind words Ina. This is actually my favorite of all the images I have here at Usefilm to this point. It's funny but there is a certain fantasy quality to it that I wasn't trying for and frankly I don't really understand.

Perhaps it's the sky. I didn't add anything to this image in photoshop beyond a little exposure compensation. I did have to darken the sky a bit and increase the contrast as it was slightly blown in the original. But I didn't change the color hue. The sky behind me was blue and so that reflected in the facing side of the tall building while the sunset reflected gold in the other side. Maybe that's what I'm seeing.

Funny how sometimes in my better shots I'm not always sure of the effect at the time I shoot it. Sometimes I think something isn;t working well and it turns out to be a little special. I guess the surprise is part of the fun in this.

Your remark about this making a poster for the city is more on target than you know as the old building in the foreground is the Philadelphia City Hall in Central City. Maybe I should make a proposal to them. :-)

Anyway, thanks again for your astute observations, Ina! Your thoughtful remarks are quite helpful.

What a fantastic image this is, Mark! A great juxtaposition of styles, complemented by a great sky. The skyscraper seems an architectural rendering, the lines are so sharp. The golds and the blues really complement each other, and the composition is superb. This would make a beautiful poster for the city.
