Thank you Virginia! I still have so much to learn and so little time! I truly am impressed with your sunrise/sunset photos. They are unique and beautiful. Full range of raw colors too. They kinda appear to be your current niche! Best regards.

Now this is one of MY favorites of your sunsets! Love This!!! The colors are so amazing and the sun is at the exact right spot on the horizon! I personally don't think that the rule of thirds applies to a picture like this one (taking it out of the center, that is). If you took the sun out of the middle third it wouldn't feel right at all. I think you have just the right amount of water, reflection and sky! Really well done, Sarah! Kathy Okay...now I'm looking at this again, and realizing that katie is referring to the horizontal thirds. She could be right. I held up a piece of paper, and if you removed the top third of the sky, placing the sun in the top third this might be even a bit more appealing, if that is possible :)

Good point and well taken. I will definitely be keeping that in mind (seriously, thank you!). Katie, I really hope you post the original pic you've posted below. It's a fantastic silhouette and the "bottom" somehow adds more to the mood and atmosphere. It's an excellent shot. Hey, if you became a donor you could post 3 pics instead of one a day... I truly look forward to more of your postings and am looking forward to your repost. Best regards.

thank you for the comment, yeah, i was jsut thinkning that. i cropped our the bottom to try and make the picture fit the size requirements, but it looked much better with the bottom included. this site is a bit difficult because youc an only upload on picture per day, or i would have posted the other. thanks for your input. =]
i love this photo, the reflection on the water is great, so is the starburst around the sun. the only thing i can think of is that when i was introduced to photography, my teacher stressed the rule of thirds, and that a piece is made more interesting when the subject is not directly in the middle. i think it looks great, though. =]
ok i attached the original version of my photo..its a bit better...
