About Plateau Mont-Royal, Montréal, Québec, Canada, June 2005.

This was taken at night on a commercial street. I was holding the camera against the window while depressing the shutter in B setting. Exposure time was based on the time to say "One photographer".

The negative was scanned with an Epson Perfection 3170 Photo scanner.

Thanks for your comments. Regards, Claude

Nice composition!

The color cast really brings a particular atmosphere (la joie du travail de bureau!).

The black chairs brings balance to the image.

Bravo!

Hi Claude,

nice to see some fresh stuff from you. this is really a depressing scene. love that outcome with the desaturated and somehow dirty look ;-)

best wishes,
Thilo

What's unusual is how unflat the image is, compared to what a high-end modern lens produces. There is that depth that I find attractive. The office is a very sterile environment that doesn't elicit thoughts of art or anything like that, but here you managed to make the viewer aware of three-dimensional space, shapes and lines. It's like seeing from outside the box, and being outside this box, you see it not for what it is, but for what it is as a photograph. That's the great illusion.

chairs conspiring in the night - looks great with this collection of rectangles and squares - color is the right choice too I believe. /H

Smart picture and title! You made me take a close look at a boring scenery and I actually found it interesting! Well done! :)

I almost get depressed by looking at this office - too empty place, the terrible lamps that create this green/yellow colour.... :( but you captured it well!

interesting shot - the colour cast works well. Reminds me of a particular REM video ....
